A gel blaster (orbeez gun, Orbeegun) is a toy weapon that shoots hydrogel balls (orbeez). Orbeez are 98% water, so they break apart on impact without leaving bruises or stains. Gel blasters are a safe alternative to airsoft and paintball for kids and teenagers.
Small orbeez pistols are suitable for children aged 6+, medium-sized rifles for ages 8-10, and powerful full-size models for ages 14+. Choose a model based on weight and size — the child should be comfortable holding and operating the blaster. Protective goggles are mandatory for all ages.
Spring (manual) models require hand-cocking before each shot — they are simpler and cheaper. Battery-powered models fire automatically in bursts, have greater range (15-25m vs 10-15m) and higher rate of fire. For active games, battery-powered options are recommended.
Consider the child age, blaster weight (300g to 2kg), power type (battery or spring) and magazine capacity. For beginners, a lightweight pistol or compact rifle is ideal. The kit usually includes the blaster, battery, charger and a starter pack of orbeez.
A standard kit includes: gel blaster, battery (for electric models), USB charger, starter portion of dry orbeez and instructions. Some models additionally come with a detachable sight, extra magazine or protective goggles. The exact contents are listed on each product page.
